The Simpsons Movie

If you saw Ice Age 2 or The Simpsons this past Sunday, or if you're just in the know, you'll know that a The Simpsons movie is being released next year.

I still have an outside suspicion that it's an April Fool's joke seeing as nobody knew about it and it happened around April 1st. But that's unlikely.

I'm just wondering what the plot could possibly be. Every now and then I do a thought experiment whereby I try to come up with a good plot for a Simpsons episode. And seeing as they seem to be bowling towards 20 seasons, it's pretty challenging. All the standards are taken: boyfriends, girlfriends, family vacations, jobs, bullies, infidelity, injuries, deaths. Sure, you can come up with something like Willie Shaves His Head but if you want to keep it realistic to the series and center it around the Simpson family, it's really hard. Nevermind a plot for a 90 minute movie.

Nonetheless, it's exciting news and it looks like 2007 will be the year of the Simpsons nerd. Boo-hay!
